Each day, term and year we are working as a staff team to improve our school. We do this to ensure we are providing the best possible education and start for our pupils, your children.
Below you can see the six main priorities for this academic year which will help us live out our vision: Living, Loving, Learning - Christ at the Centre
1) Our Catholic Values and Ethos make sure we are keeping Christ at the Centre of all we do
2) Our curriculum is ambitious, diverse and designed for pupils to succeed
3) Our approach to behaviour allows pupils to self-regulate for positive learning
4) Our enrichment and pastoral offer allows pupils to have the life skills they need for the future
5) Our leadership development of pupils enable them to reach their full potential
6) Our EYFS environment provides the strongest start for our youngest learners
We've achieved the Quality Mark again at OLQM, well done to all the hard working Staff and children, fantastic news!
Exciting news! Year One have received a letter from Sir David Attenborough! The children have been learning about how to take care of our wonderful planet as part of their Quest journey. They have explored the work of David Attenborough and how he inspires people to protect Gods creation. The children enjoyed making him cards for his 94th birthday and were very pleased to have a reply back!
We thought you might appreciate a photographic tour of the school. A lot has changed in the last few weeks to make it possible to observe social distancing. Our staff members have had to clear every classroom and store many of the resources in the hall. In compliance with Government regulations, we have set up Bubbles of 15 pupils and needed to use two classrooms to be able to do this safely. Luckily, we were able to open up the adjoining doors in Year Bases. All outdoor spaces had to be subdivided into play areas for each Bubble and plans had to be drawn up of how we would move safely round the school. There are several one-way systems in operation now. It has required a huge amount of work to keep everyone safe!
Setting up Google classroom
Information from your teacher will be in stream.
How to edit/work on a word document on Google Classroom
Once you are in the Google Classroom select the classwork tab at the top of the screen.
You should then see a list of all the work set by your teachers.
Click in the item in the list that you intend to work on and the instructions and attached document will appear. It should look similar to this example.
After clicking the attachment it will appear on the screen with a black background. In the top right corner there are 3 white dots (next to the printer symbol).
Click here and choose the ‘open in new window’ option.
The new tab will look similar to the previous one but will have this key feature at the top of the document.
Click ‘Open with Google Docs’ (use the drop down menu to choose Google Docs if the bar shows a different option) the tab will change to something that looks more like a regular word document. From this point you can edit and add information to the document. You will not need to save your progress as this is done automatically.
When you have finished, go back to classwork, click on the lesson your are handing in, click view assignment and then click ‘hand in.’ Please only ‘hand in’ when the work is complete, otherwise you will not be able to access it again unless the teacher returns it to you.
York author, Sue Ellis, visited the school on Thursday 7th November.
She worked with Lower KS2, and read her book, ‘Proud Patrick Peacock.’ Her book helps to teach the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning as well as Personal, Social and Health Education.
Upper KS2 worked on the blurb for her new book about gang culture. It is due to be published next year.
