Hello!
The staff team in Year 5 are Mrs Elsworth, Mrs Jinks and Mr Rowell.
Children enter a new phase as they enter Year 5 and join our 'Upper Key Stage 2' phase. This means children have a greater sense of responsibility to role model our values to children across the school. We enact this by increasing our pupil leadership roles through groups such as Mini-Vinnies and our Eco Team.
On this page you will find a brief overview of our plans for the year, some general reminders and useful websites to support learning at home
Our Class Saints:
St Bakhita:
Josephine Margaret Bakhita, F.D.C.C., was a Sudanese-Italian Canossian religious sister who lived in Italy for 45 years, after having been a slave in Sudan. In 2000, she was declared a saint, the first Black woman to receive the honor in the modern era. he has been adopted as the patron saint of modern Sudan and human trafficking survivors. Bakhita's legacy is that transformation is possible through suffering. Her feast day is 8th February.
St Nicholas:
Saint Nicholas is one of the most popular saints commemorated in the Eastern and Western churches, and he is now traditionally associated with the festival of Christmas. Nothing certain is known of his life, but he was probably bishop of Myra in the 4th century. He is also known as Nicholas of Myra or Nicholas of Bari. Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, repentant thieves, children, brewers, pawnbrokers, and students in various cities and countries around Europe. His feast day is 6th December.
