Year 4 - St Anthony and St Hilda

Hello!

The staff team in Year 4 are Mrs Cheney and Miss Lewis.

Year 4 is a very important year to prepare children for upper Key Stage Two. It is an opportunity to embed all the learning that has been undertaken so far and deepening and widening their knowledge across the curriculum.

On this page you will find a brief overview of our plans for the year, some general reminders and useful websites to support learning at home

Our Class Saints:

St Hilda of Whitby:

Hilda of Whitby was a Christian saint and the founding abbess of the monastery at Whitby, which was chosen as the venue for the Synod of Whitby in 664. Hilda is a significant figure in the history of English Christianity. As the abbess of Whitby – a monastery for both men and women – she led one of the most important religious centres in the Anglo-Saxon world. She is considered one of the patron saints of learning and culture. Her feast day is 17th November.

St Anthony of Padua:

Anthony of Padua or Anthony of Lisbon was a Portuguese Catholic priest and friar of the Franciscan Order. He was born and raised by a wealthy family in Lisbon, Portugal, and died in Padua, Italy. He is especially invoked and venerated all over the world as the patron saint for the recovery of lost items and is credited with many miracles involving lost people, lost things and even lost spiritual goods. His feast day is 13th June.
