Year 1 – St Brigid and St Cecilia

Hello!

The staff team in Year 1 are Ms Fisher and Miss Ion.

We believe Year 1 is the best year of all in school. We think this because it is the start of children's journey through Key Stages. We love working with our Early Years team to ensure a smooth transition and seeing children blossom within a more formalised school environment.

On this page you will find a brief overview of our plans for the year, some general reminders and useful websites to support learning at home

Our Class Saints:

St Brigid:

Saint Brigid of Kildare or Brigid of Ireland is the patroness saint of Ireland, and one of its three national saints along with Patrick and Columba. Brigid is the patron saint of poets…but that's not all – she's also the patron saint of midwives, newborns, Irish nuns, fugitives, blacksmiths, dairymaids, boatmen, chicken farmers, cattle, scholars, sailors, and no doubt many more. Her feast day is 1st February.

St Cecilia:

Saint Cecilia was a Roman virgin martyr and is venerated in Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and some Lutheran churches, such as the Church of Sweden. She became the patroness of music and musicians, it being written that, as the musicians played at her wedding, Cecilia "sang in her heart to the Lord". Her feast day is 22nd November.
