TT Rockstars and Numbots are two online maths programmes which can be used in, and out of school, to support the learning of times tables (TT Rock Stars) and adding and subtracting mentally (Numbots), in a fun and engaging way. Numbots is used mainly in Key Stage 1, but will continue to be useful for many KS2 pupils and whilst TT Rock Stars is aimed at Key Stage 2 predominantly, it is rolled out during Year 2 to prepare children for the use of it in KS2.
If you don't know your child's log-in details, you can use request this through the relevant website, otherwise, please get in touch with your child's teacher.
For TT Rock Stars, it is recommended that your child practises regularly, little and often. Your child's class teacher sets the times tables which will be tested that week in school, and these can be practised through Gig/Garage mode. In the Summer term of year 4, pupils take part in a Government-run Multiplication Tables Check, and there is therefore an expectation that by this stage all children know all 12 times tables fluently. TT Rock Stars is a great tool to support the speed of instant recall of these times tables, and their related division facts.
