Living, Loving, Learning - Christ at the Centre

In Year One we aim to be super writers. We write for a range of purposes including stories, letters, poems, diaries, reports. Each week we practice writing 'Super Sentences'.

What makes a super sentence?

  • A capital letter at the beginning of the sentence.
  • A finger space between each word.
  • A full stop at the end of each sentence.
  • Letters written in a cursive script on the line.
  • Key words spelt correctly.
  • Unknown words spelt using our phonetic knowledge.

In year one we regularly practice our cursive letter formation (see below) working towards joining digraphs. Becoming more confident forming and joining letters helps us be more fluent writers.
