Chaplaincy

The chaplaincy team plays a key role in helping to organise collect acts of worship and prayer in school.

We currently have 23 children on the team from across our Year 6 classes. They can be identified by their badges if you need their help. They meet as a team weekly to prepare for any upcoming chaplaincy work.

They check and prepare prayer spaces regularly ready for collective worship, using artefacts, visual aids and music.   They also support the delivery of collective worship across the school based on a Statement to Live By or a relevant aspect of Gospel teaching.

They are also available to help the younger children to prepare class collective worship.

They sometimes help prepare special Masses, for example the Welcome Mass for our new pupils and staff at the start of the year and liturgies such as the distribution of Ashes at the start of Lent.   They have met with our school priests, Father John and Father Tony alongside our Catholic Life of the School lead to share ideas and ask for any support they need.

They coach other pupils to enable all members of our school to lead in collective worship effectively.

They are also linked to our Mini Vinnies group.

Taking part in the chaplaincy team will support pupils in achieving their Faith in Action Award. This encourages them to shine the light of faith by taking their service into the wider community and accepting greater responsibility for their faith in action for the common good. This is done through building a portolfio of activities that each pupil has taken part in.
